45 Books from my 2024 Reads for Your 2025 List
Another year has come and gone, and I’m once again offered the opportunity to share with you the best of the 126 books I read last year in case you’re looking for suggestions for books to read this year.
Unlike my 2023 reads, the majority of my 2024 reads were focused on Palestine and Israel. Indeed those reads spun out into their own project, Palestine Bookshelf, and rather than recap those books here, I’ll simply refer you to the website which has video book reviews for every single book on the shelf. As of now there are over 50 books and a dozen documentaries on the shelf. This time next year those numbers will be doubled, at least.
This year I’ll present the categories in alphabetical order.
Autobiography and Biography
32 Yolks by Eric Ripert. This book fits very much in the chef memoir genre that I’ve enjoyed over the years. A consistent theme? Great food, like great art, seems to be born from great trauma and personal difficulty. Goodreads review. YouTube review.
Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson. Elon was already a pretty big deal when I read the book, but he’s — oddly— become an even bigger deal since then. The last Isaacson book I read was on Steve Jobs and it makes me wonder if Isaacson has the market cornered on writing about neurotic…
